On July 24, with the completion of the shipment of the first newly built wharf caisson, the Rizhao Port transformation and upgrading project, a major national “15th Five-Year Plan” project, entered the main structure construction stage. Rizhao Port is an important global transit base for energy and bulk raw materials, and a comprehensive green and smart transformation will be achieved during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period. The ongoing transformation and upgrading project plans to build 6 new large berths and remodel 2 large berths, with an annual design pass capacity of 141 million tons. The planned construction period is 6 years. After the completion of the project, the east and north operation areas of the Ishiusu Port area of Rizhao Port will form a modern port area focusing on containers, passenger transportation, high-end port and shipping services, and modern logistics. The southern operation area will achieve full-process operation, accounting for 90% of clean energy.
