McCoott announced that the phase II clinical trial of MT200605, a candidate drug developed independently by the group to treat acute ischemic stroke, has completed database locking. MT200605 is an injectable neuroprotective agent with a dual synergistic mechanism. The design aims to reduce cell death by simultaneously activating TrkB receptors and removing oxygen radicals, thereby inhibiting neuronal apoptosis, reducing excitatory toxicity, and reducing inflammatory response; on the other hand, by reactivating endogenous repair procedures in neuronal cells upstream, to improve synaptic plasticity and promote neuronal regeneration.
