According to the latest statistics, 338,000 mu of mangroves have been built and restored nationwide, of which 174,000 mu of new mangroves have been built, exceeding the target of 136,000 mu. According to the results of the 2025 national land change survey, the area of mangrove forests in China has increased to 475,000 mu, an increase of about 44% over the beginning of this century. While the amount of resources has been growing steadily, the quality, stability, and carbon sink capacity of mangrove ecosystems have also improved markedly. Currently, the mangrove protection pattern has basically been formed. More than 90% of mangroves are included in the ecological protection red line. 82 nature reserves involving mangroves have been established, and mangrove forests account for 60% of the area of mangroves within nature reserves.
