The Zhitong Finance App learned that Maoyan Entertainment (01896) opened nearly 7% lower. As of press release, it fell 6.78% to HK$4.4, with a turnover of HK$3.154,400.

According to the news, Maoyan Entertainment issued a profit warning. The Group's revenue for the first half of 2026 is estimated to be about 1.75 billion yuan to 1.85 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of about 25.2% to 29.2%; the net loss attributable to company owners is estimated to be about 5 million yuan to 55 million yuan in the first half of 2026, and profit attributable to company owners for the same period last year is 179 million yuan. The loss was mainly due to the fact that in the first half of 2026, the total box office of Chinese films was 17.354 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 40.6%. Furthermore, due to factors such as insufficient supply of leading films in the film market and fluctuations in demand for movie viewing, the box office performance of some films participating in the group fell short of expectations during the reporting period.

The announcement stated that with the continued popularity of the offline performance market, the Group is also continuing to increase its investment in the performance business to further expand its advantages and enhance competitiveness. Furthermore, based on the phased pressure faced by the Chinese film industry, the operating conditions of several of the Group's partners are under pressure. The Group has adopted a prudential principle and made impairment provisions for other accounts receivable from relevant partners. The amount of impairment is expected to not exceed 100 million yuan. The company is also actively collecting other accounts receivable and has taken necessary legal measures.
