Recently, the Ministry of Transport and 11 other departments jointly issued the “Implementation Plan for Promoting the Large-scale Application of New Energy Heavy Trucks”, which proposes to accelerate the large-scale development of new energy heavy trucks and clearly states the goal of having more than 1.6 million new energy heavy trucks by 2030. On top of the 182% year-on-year increase in sales of new energy heavy trucks last year, sales increased nearly 80% year-on-year in the first half of this year. From “exemplary products” to today's mainstream capacity, the industry penetration rate of new energy heavy trucks climbed from less than 1% in 2021 to nearly 30% in 2025. At a commercial vehicle sales company in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, sales staff told the reporter that with the improvement of charging points on major highways in many countries and provinces in China, drivers who run long distances are changing cars more and more. In recent years, the cost of “electric trucks” has continued to drop. Previously, 220-degree electric new energy heavy trucks sold for 7.8 million yuan, but now mainstream 400-degree pure electric traction heavy trucks have dropped to around 400,000 yuan for some models. According to the plan, over the next period, China will build 30,000 kilometers of zero-carbon road transport channels and build more than 3,000 electric heavy truck charging and switching stations.
