After Yemen's Houthis claimed to have attacked Saudi Aramco's refinery in Jizan over the weekend, satellite images showed that an oil storage tank at the plant appeared to have caught fire. Satellite images show that an oil storage tank caught fire at this large facility with a daily processing capacity of 400,000 barrels. The images also show billowing smoke from a torch tower on the east side of the facility. The torch tower is used to burn excess gas in processing facilities such as refineries, and is an essential safety pressure relief device in industrial sites. It's unclear if these incidents affected the operation of the facility, but images show that damage appears to be limited to the oil storage tank. Furthermore, due to smoke blocking, it is impossible to determine whether the oil storage tank on the south side of the facility was also affected.
