Lianhua Electronics said its board of directors has approved an investment plan of NT$148.68 billion to increase production capacity. According to another statement, the plan includes expanding the clean room production capacity of the Singapore plant and simultaneously starting a new plant shell project at Taiwan's Tainan Science Park. In Singapore, UMC will invest in the construction of a clean room and purchase equipment at the Phase IV plant to expand its silicon light production capacity. The newly built fab in Taiwan will be used as a base for future Phase 7 and Phase 8 plants. This two-track parallel production expansion plan aims to meet the immediate needs of customers, while also laying out high-growth fields such as AI and edge computing in the long term.
