On July 27, local time, American entrepreneur Elon Musk said in a post on the social networking platform X that he has asked his artificial intelligence company SpaceXAI to store the rare books they have processed in a library and scan them in a way that does not damage the books, rather than directly cutting off the spine. Musk's statement is aimed at the “book burning” practices of Anthropic, another American AI company. According to the US “Washington Post” earlier disclosure, Anthropic launched a project codenamed “Plan Panama” in early 2024. An internal company document reads: “The Panama Plan means we are destructively scanning all the books in the world... we don't want the outside world to know we're doing this.”
