Iranian Foreign Minister Alagzi spoke with Cypriot Foreign Minister Combos on the phone. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the latest situation in the region. The call was proposed by the Cypriot side. During the conversation, Alagzi stressed that all parties to the conflict must be prevented from using foreign military bases deployed in Cyprus to carry out any aggressive actions against Iran. He pointed out that according to the United Nations General Assembly resolution on the definition of aggression, allowing a country's territory to be used to plan and carry out acts of aggression against another country constituted participation in an act of aggression. During the call, Combos reiterated that Cyprus firmly abides by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the rules of international law. He said that the Serbian side has communicated with the British government and obtained a clear guarantee that foreign military bases deployed in Cyprus will not be used to carry out military actions against any country, including Iran.
