Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over a special meeting of the Cabinet Security Committee to review the impact and countermeasures of the continuously escalating situation in the Middle East on India. This is the fourth recent special session of the Commission on the Middle East conflict. According to a press release issued by the Indian Prime Minister's Office, Modi called for the establishment of a unified coordination mechanism to comprehensively monitor the development of the Middle East conflict and its potential impact on India. The conference focused on evaluating the supply guarantee situation in key areas such as energy, agriculture, and shipping. In terms of energy security, the conference confirmed that India's current stocks and supplies of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas are still sufficient, and that state-owned refineries maintain a 100% operating rate. To deal with the tight supply of liquefied natural gas, the Indian government is taking a number of urgent measures, including expanding the national gas pipeline network, strengthening infrastructure for LNG imports and regasification, and expanding the urban gas distribution network. Meanwhile, in accordance with the 2026 Pipeline Infrastructure Order, the government will expedite approval of pipeline and “last mile” connection projects within a specified period of time to promote alternative use of LPG in the industrial sector.
