Manhattan Associates just gave investors a sentiment shock. The stock dropped about 6% today from roughly US$204 to around US$191 even though the company posted what management called record Q2 and first half results, with Q2 revenue of US$298m and adjusted operating margin of 34.9%. The emotional hit sits squarely on the short term price screen, while the earnings story rests on strong cloud growth and record bookings.
For you as a shareholder or watcher, the key question is whether that selloff reflects a real concern about profitability or a quick reaction to headline optics. The rest of this earnings breakdown examines that gap between price and fundamentals.

Bulls argue that Manhattan Associates is building a higher quality, recurring cloud business with AI driven upsell potential and margin upside as scale improves. Q2 cloud revenue grew 26% to US$127m and over 40% of new cloud bookings came from on premise conversions, which directly supports the cloud transition story. Record quarterly bookings for the third time in a row and RPO of US$2.47b, up 23% year on year, back the claim of improving revenue visibility. Early traction from Active Agents, with 100% pilot to subscription conversion and measured warehouse efficiency gains, also lines up with the AI monetisation narrative. Adjusted operating margin of 34.9% and raised full year guidance to about 35.1% indicate that investment in AI and new go to market capacity has not yet undermined profitability.
Bears worry that Manhattan Associates faces slowing underlying growth, pressured margins and rising structural risks despite the cloud story. Some of that concern still shows up. Net income excluding extra items declined about 11% year on year and basic EPS fell about 8%, even with record revenue, which challenges a clean earnings quality story. GAAP EPS declined 9% due to about US$8m of restructuring, and management signalled much of the savings will be recycled into spending in 2026 rather than dropping to the bottom line. Services revenue grew only 3% and maintenance is guided to fall about 12%, which supports concerns that the mix shift away from legacy streams is a drag. The Rosen Law investigation into potential fiduciary issues also keeps governance risk on the table despite stronger bookings and cash flow.
With revenue growth, a lower trailing net margin and a rich P/E all in play, it is worth checking whether Manhattan Associates has the balance sheet strength to justify patience.
