Huo Lihui, chief statistician at the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that in July, the manufacturing purchasing managers' index declined somewhat, and the high-tech manufacturing industry continued to expand. The manufacturing PMI fell to 49.2% due to factors such as the rapid growth base of the manufacturing industry in the previous period and the fact that some manufacturing industries entered the traditional off-season of production. The equipment manufacturing industry and the high-tech manufacturing industry continue to play a supporting and leading role. The PMI for the equipment manufacturing industry and the high-tech manufacturing industry was 51.4% and 53.3%, respectively, which was significantly higher than the overall manufacturing industry, maintaining a relatively rapid expansion, driving the manufacturing industry's development towards the next improvement; the PMI for the consumer goods industry and the high-energy industry was 47.8% and 47.0%, respectively, down 2.4 and 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, and the boom level declined.
