Today, Unit 2 of the CGN Guangdong Taipingling Nuclear Power Project was officially put into operation, marking the full completion and commissioning of the first phase of the first “Hualong 1” nuclear power project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Unit 2, which has been put into production this time, uses China's third-generation nuclear power “Hualong 1” technology, which has completely independent intellectual property rights. The localization rate of core equipment exceeds 90%, and the rated power of a single unit is about 1,200 megawatts. According to information, the Taipingling nuclear power project plans to build 6 “Hualong 1” nuclear power units. After all six units are completed, they can clean power supply about 55 billion kilowatt-hours per year, which is equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by about 16.52 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by about 50.82 million tons.
