HSBC Posts Rise in H1 Profit, Net Operating Income

12:26 AM EDT, 08/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- HSBC (HSBA.L) said Tuesday that its profit and net operating income for the first half jumped year over year. Profit attributable to ordinary shareholders of the parent company for the six months ended June 30 was $14.63 billion, compared with $11.51 billion earlier. EPS moved to $0.85 from $0.65. The British lender's net operating income was $35.39 billion, compared with $32.18 billion a year ago. Meanwhile, the board declared an unchanged second interim dividend of $0.10 per share for the period, payable on Sept. 25 to shareholders on record Aug. 14. Looking ahead, HSBC now expects net interest income of "at least" $46 billion in 2026, against the previous outlook of "around" $46 billion. Meanwhile, the bank maintained its target for year-over-year revenue growth through 2028, including 5% growth in 2028 from 2027. It also reaffirmed its 50% dividend payout ratio target for each year from 2026 to 2028.
