A residential area in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, can maintain a room temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius without air conditioning. The coolness of this summer comes from an abandoned coal mine. The mine water stored underground was kept at a constant temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius all year round. Now, along the heating pipes of the community, it flows into the floor heating coils of the first batch of nearly 100 households. What used to be a “burden” of resource depletion has become a “natural cold source” benefiting residents. According to information, the system can also extract heat from mine water through heat pump technology to achieve centralized heating in winter, so that one tube can pass through winter and summer.
