According to J.P. Morgan's research report on Tuesday, the attractiveness of foreign investors to US investment-grade corporate bonds reached its highest level since April 2025. Strategists, including Nathaniel Rosenbaum, wrote that the bank's index, which tracks the attractiveness of high-grade US dollar bonds, rose 12 basis points from week to week to 61 basis points, the highest value since April last year. The change stemmed from a decline in hedging costs for all currencies in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and most currencies in the Asia-Pacific region last week, with an average drop of 10.4 basis points. Earlier, after the latest Federal Reserve meeting, the market has digested expectations of the Fed's short-term interest rate hike, and short-term interest rates on the US dollar have declined. The yield on high-grade US dollar bonds rose slightly by 1.4 basis points, which also boosted their external appeal. For the first time since April 2025, Japanese investors' spread earnings on short-term bonds were positive, rising 13 basis points; spread earnings on 10-year bonds improved by 16 basis points.
