Preliminary statistics released by the Bank of Korea on August 6 show that South Korea's balance of payments current account surplus reached a surplus of 49.73 billion US dollars in June, breaking the record for the highest monthly surplus for two consecutive months. Trade in goods achieved a surplus of US$47.89 billion, the highest in a single month. Exports surged 84.5% year on year to 112.37 billion US dollars. This is the first time that exports of goods have exceeded 100 billion US dollars. By item, according to customs data, exports of computers and peripheral equipment, semiconductors, wireless communication equipment, etc. have increased dramatically.
