The Korea Fair Trade Commission issued a statement saying that it has begun investigating whether 15 tier-1 traders colluded to manipulate treasury bond auctions between 2020 and 2023, affecting about 76.2 trillion won in tenders. The Korea Fair Trade Commission said its examiners have submitted a review report to the Commission and sent copies to the 15 financial institutions charged in the case. Examiners accused the companies of colluding and exchanging information in treasury bond auctions between January 2020 and June 2023; recommended corrective actions, fines, and criminal transfers. The Commission will determine whether there has been an offense, and if so, determine the level of sanctions after review. The institutions named include Kyodo Securities, Daishin Securities, Meritz Securities, Future Asset Securities, Samsung Securities, Shinhan Securities, NH Securities, KB Securities, Korea Investment Securities, and Kiwoom Securities, as well as KB Kookmin Securities, Nonghyup Securities, Korea Industrial Bank, Korea Asia Bank, and Korea Development Bank.
