US chip company Netlist said on Thursday that it has reached a five-year agreement with Samsung Electronics to authorize Netlist's memory chip patent, thus resolving a protracted patent dispute between the two companies. Under the agreement, Samsung Electronics will obtain the right to use Netlist's patent portfolio, which includes server dual in-line memory modules and high-bandwidth memory-related technologies for artificial intelligence servers and high-performance computing systems. As part of this strategic alliance, Samsung will also acquire 10 million shares of Netlist under an independent memory product supply agreement. The two companies agreed to settle and mutually discontinue all outstanding lawsuits relating to the patent dispute. The agreement ended years of patent lawsuits between the two companies.
