The reporter learned from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that Liu Yi's team of researchers and international collaborators focused on research on the evolution of methane emissions in Siberia in the context of climate change. Through research, they have completely revealed the mechanism by which atmospheric circulation induces wildfires to increase methane release, leading to a significant increase in methane emissions. This study quantitatively revealed the evolutionary mechanism of the increase in methane emissions from Siberian permafrost in the context of accelerated warming in the Arctic, and provided a new scientific basis for global methane emission reduction policy formulation and regional climate threshold research. The relevant results were recently published in the international academic journal “Science”.
