Tesmec (BIT:TES) Stock Rally Gains Backing From Q2 Profit Turnaround

Simply Wall St·08/06/2026 18:33:30
Listen to the news

Tesmec stock closed at €0.42 today, sitting on a very large 90 day gain that already priced in high expectations. The headline from these Q2 numbers is simple: the turnaround story moved from promise to delivery. Revenue reached €78.3m and net income was €3.5m, which kept the group in the black after years of patchy results. For a stock trading on a rich P/E and known for sharp swings, this profit print is what matters. Short term traders have the move, while long term holders now have a firmer earnings base to assess.

Is Tesmec now pricing in a sustainable turnaround, or has the Q2 excitement pushed the stock too far ahead of its earnings power? See how the current P/E and cash flow assumptions line up in our valuation analysis for Tesmec

Tesmec bull story, margin and backlog on trial

Bulls argue Tesmec is shifting from low quality sales to higher margin, cash generative growth backed by grid and rail investment. The H1 2026 figures go a long way to support that. Group revenue reached €144m with EBITDA about €24m and a margin near 17%. That aligns with the idea of better pricing and mix, especially as Energy EBITDA margin moved to about 23%. The turnaround is not just on paper. Net profit of €4.5m replaced the prior year loss and free cash flow of about €10m helped cut net financial debt to €120m, a reduction of about €65m versus June 2024. A backlog of roughly €498m, with strong Energy and a higher Rail book, gives visibility that the current profitability is being built on multi year contracts rather than one off wins.

Tesmec bear worries on execution and quality

The cautious view is that Tesmec is over earning on a hot cycle, with fragile execution and a stretched balance sheet. Recent data softens but does not remove those concerns. Rail still looks early in its recovery. H1 sales were roughly €20m despite a backlog close to €180m, so conversion risk is very real and management itself points to timing and supply chain constraints. Trenchers show only modest revenue growth and flat EBITDA year on year, which means that business has not yet delivered clear margin uplift. Part of the H1 profit also came from a roughly €1.2m foreign exchange gain, so earnings quality deserves scrutiny. Net financial debt is lower at €120m, yet about €64m still sits in working capital facilities, so the improvement in leverage depends on management keeping working capital tight through the cycle.

With a volatile share price, a heavy reliance on working capital and backlog conversion risks, it may be worth asking whether these are isolated issues or signs of deeper structural fragility. Review our risk analysis for Tesmec which shows 1 important warning sign
