A spokesman for the HKSAR Government said today that in accordance with section 16 of the Schedule to the Chief Executive Election Ordinance, the Chief Executive has specified November 22, 2026 as the voting date for the 2026 Election Committee subsector general elections to elect elected members of the new Election Commission. The relevant announcement was published in today's Gazette. Furthermore, the nomination period for the election will begin on October 7 and end on October 20. The Chief Electoral Officer will publish a notice in due course indicating the deadline and place for submission of nomination forms, as well as the relevant details. The HKSAR Government will continue to cooperate closely with the Election Administration Commission to actively carry out preparations so that the elections can be held smoothly in an open, honest, fair, safe, orderly, efficient and humane manner.
