04:54 AM EDT, 08/07/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Gelion (GELN.L) said Friday that it signed a joint development and funding agreement with Mitsui Kinzoku Co. to potentially scale its nano-encapsulated sulfur cathode active material, or NES CAM. The Japanese metals and engineered materials supplier will pay the sulfur battery company 2 million pounds sterling in staged, milestone-linked payments to validate the NES CAM in high-energy-density liquid and solid-state sulfur battery cells, for possible applications in the automotive, stationary storage, consumer electronics, and aerospace and defense sectors. The deal also includes an option for Mitsui to negotiate manufacturing and distribution rights for the cathode material in certain Asian territories, as well as establishes a pathway toward industrial-scale production of the material.
