In an interview with US media a few days ago, Cyprus Energy Minister Michael Damianos said that Cyprus is expected to supply natural gas produced in the Eastern Mediterranean region to Europe as early as March 2028. Damianos told the Associated Press that the Ukraine crisis and the war in the Middle East have caused turbulence in the global energy market and prompted European countries to promote diversification of energy sources, while offshore gas fields in the Eastern Mediterranean region are gradually entering their sights and becoming an alternative supply channel.
