Listen to the news

Celebrations may be in order for Artemis Gold Inc. (CVE:ARTG) shareholders, with the analysts delivering a significant upgrade to their statutory estimates for the company. The analysts have sharply increased their revenue numbers, with a view that Artemis Gold will make substantially more sales than they'd previously expected. Artemis Gold has also found favour with investors, with the stock up a noteworthy 22% to CA$41.17 over the past week. It will be interesting to see if today's upgrade is enough to propel the stock even higher.

After the upgrade, the four analysts covering Artemis Gold are now predicting revenues of CA$1.6b in 2026. If met, this would reflect a notable 14% improvement in sales compared to the last 12 months. Before the latest update, the analysts were foreseeing CA$1.4b of revenue in 2026. It looks like there's been a clear increase in optimism around Artemis Gold, given the nice increase in revenue forecasts.

We'd point out that there was no major changes to their price target of US$37.48, suggesting the latest estimates were not enough to shift their view on the value of the business. Fixating on a single price target can be unwise though, since the consensus target is effectively the average of analyst price targets. As a result, some investors like to look at the range of estimates to see if there are any diverging opinions on the company's valuation. Currently, the most bullish analyst values Artemis Gold at US$46.12 per share, while the most bearish prices it at US$26.37. There are definitely some different views on the stock, but the range of estimates is not wide enough as to imply that the situation is unforecastable, in our view.

Looking at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can make sense of these forecasts is to see how they measure up against both past performance and industry growth estimates. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Artemis Gold's revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2026 expected to display 31% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 94% over the past five years. Juxtapose this against the other companies in the industry with analyst coverage, which are forecast to grow their revenues (in aggregate) 13% per year. Even after the forecast slowdown in growth, it seems obvious that Artemis Gold is also expected to grow faster than the wider industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away from this upgrade is that analysts lifted their revenue estimates for this year. They're also forecasting more rapid revenue growth than the wider market. Seeing the dramatic upgrade to this year's forecasts, it might be time to take another look at Artemis Gold.
