Hang Seng Index Company Seeks Market Opinions on the Revised Hang Seng Technology Index Calculation Method

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 10, Hang Seng Index published a consultation document to seek market opinions on possible revisions to the Hang Seng Technology Index calculation method.

As the technology industry continues to expand in Hong Kong, the proposed revisions aim to expand the coverage of technology topics, optimize the selection mechanism for constituent stocks, and increase the number of constituent stocks so that the index continues to represent the evolving technology landscape.

The relevant revisions are expected to be announced at the end of September 2026 and implemented during the index review ending September 30, 2026, but a final decision is still required from the Index Advisory Committee after considering the advisory opinions. Any corresponding changes in index constituent stocks will take effect in the December 2026 index adjustment.
