SpaceXAI launches “all-weather digital colleague” Grok Bot, Musk launches corporate AI agent counterattack

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 11, SpaceX AI, the AI division of SpaceX (SPCX.US), officially launched Grok Bot, an enterprise-grade AI agent product — an AI team that is “online around the clock, can log in to your tools, and complete actual work like a colleague”. This announcement follows its $60 billion transaction to acquire all shares of the AI programming tool Cursor, marking a full-scale counterattack by SpaceXAI in the corporate AI agent market.

This new AI software, positioned as a “digital colleague,” marks the official evolution of AI assistants from passive question-and-answer tools to persistent intelligent teams that can actively perform tasks in the digital world.

Grok Bot: Can do the job “with your hands”, not just “move your mouth” to answer

Grok Bot is not a traditional chatbot, but a 24/7 online team of AI agents. Unlike ChatGPT or Claude, which requires users to actively ask questions, Grok Bot is designed to be able to log in to various applications and websites commonly used by users and independently complete actual work tasks.

Core feature highlights

Persistence and autonomy: Each bot has an independent computing environment and can continue to work even after the user turns off the laptop. The bot will only actively contact the user after the task is completed or when a decision is needed.

Cross-application collaboration: Bots can independently send messages to each other, share contextual information, and distribute tasks independently, just like human colleagues. Users can “put them in group chats and let them collaborate on their own.”

Learning and memory: When users perform tasks, the bot can “follow the steps”. It observes and remembers the user's preferred way of working, and continues to improve as cooperation increases.

SpaceXAI revealed that the Grok Bot was initially developed as an internal prototype, but quickly became popular within the company — every team created their own bot, from outbound sales, marketing, and daily office operations to bug fixes.

Grok Bot is now in beta and is initially open to SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Premium Teams subscribers. Supports macOS, Windows, Linux, and iOS platforms.

Pricing Strategy: $120 per seat per month for the Team Edition; $200 per month for the Personal Edition. Enterprise customers can now join the waitlist. Grok 4.5: No volume is the best, you have to compete for the best value for money

Grok 4.5's release strategy reflects Musk's pragmatic shift in the AI competition — no longer blindly pursuing the “strongest” parameters and benchmarks, but focusing on practicality and cost performance.

Efficiency and cost data:

Double token efficiency: Compared to leading models in its class, Grok 4.5's token efficiency is at least twice as high. In SWE Bench Pro programming tasks, an average of only 16,000 output tokens are required to solve the problem, while Opus 4.8 (max) requires 67,000.

Extremely low cost: Pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million tokens output. In the Grok Build scenario, each task costs around $2.5, while Fable 5 in Claude Code costs close to $12.

Practicality first: Musk admits that there is a performance gap between Grok 4.5 and the top model, but emphasizes that “most tasks don't require the capabilities of the top model.”

Grok 4.6 is coming soon: SpaceX full data injection training

At SpaceX's first earnings call on August 4, Musk predicted that Grok 4.6 will be released this week (the week of August 12), and that Grok 4.7 will also be launched in the next few weeks.

More notably, Musk announced an important strategic decision: integrating all data generated by SpaceX since its inception into GROK's training. This means that the GROK series model will obtain massive proprietary data from SpaceX in the fields of aerospace engineering, satellite communications, rocket launches, etc. as training material, which may be its unique advantage over competitors.

Strategic context: From the dissolution of XAI to SpaceXAI's AI empire

The release of Grok Bot is the latest result of Musk's integration of a series of AI strategies since 2026. In terms of computing power layout, SpaceXAI has previously reached a major agreement with Anthropic — using all the computing power of the Colossus 1 supercluster, which contains more than 220,000 Nvidia GPUs, to enhance Claude's code generation capabilities. SpaceX said that the computing power required to train and operate next-generation AI systems has exceeded the limits that ground power, land, and cooling can provide, and is advancing the idea of an orbital data center.

The competitive landscape

Grok Bot is entering a market where competition is already heating up. Anthropic introduced the “computer usage” feature as early as 2024, then released Claude Code for developers and Claude Cowork Agent for white-collar workers. During the June earnings call, he said SpaceX had deployed “dozens” of top Starlink and Starship engineers to help transform the Grok model.
