The US side called it a “preventative landing” to avoid an accident. The report said that the “Osprey” transport plane belongs to the Yokota base of the US military stationed in Japan in Tokyo and left Utsunomiya Airport on the 11th. No reports of casualties or property damage have been received so far. The report also said that the “Osprey” transport plane at Yokota Air Base had made emergency landings several times. Similar situations occurred at Hanamaki Airport in Iwate Prefecture in Japan and at the Atsugi base of the US military stationed in Kanagawa Prefecture in February and May of this year, respectively. In November 2023, a US military “Osprey” transport plane crashed in the waters off Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture, killing all 8 people on board.
