Italian Annual Inflation Rate Declines to 2.9% in July, Final Data Shows

04:15 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Italy's annual inflation rate edged down to 2.9% in July from 3% in June, final data from statistics agency Istat showed Wednesday. The latest reading is above the initial estimate of 2.8% for the month. On a monthly basis, consumer prices ticked up 0.3%, compared with the flash figure of a 0.2% gain and the prior zero growth. The Italian harmonized inflation rate stood at 2.9% on an annual basis, in line with the preliminary reading and against the previous 3%. Month over month, harmonized consumer prices were 1% lower, confirming the initial estimate after a flat reading previously.
