The attacks caused large-scale displacements, and the destruction and looting of residents' property. The United Nations Mission in South Sudan strongly condemned the incident and dispatched a long-time peacekeeping patrol to the affected area. Graham Maitland, its acting head, warned that there was a risk of further retaliatory attacks.
