Saudi Arabia reported to OPEC that the country's crude oil production increased by more than 1 million b/d last month, driven by the resumption of supply from oil producers in the Persian Gulf during the short pause in the Iran war. According to the latest OPEC monthly report, Saudi Arabia said its crude oil production in July was 8.2 million b/d, up from 7.1 million b/d in June. However, this level is still millions of b/d below pre-conflict levels. The International Energy Agency estimates in a report that by the beginning of August, Saudi domestic crude oil stocks had risen to the highest level since at least 2016. The breakdown of the US-Iran cease-fire and renewed hostilities put Saudi Arabia's two main export routes — the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Mande in the Red Sea — at risk. However, Middle Eastern oil producers are still transporting large amounts of crude oil out of the region in a low-key manner. In the seven member countries that reported production data directly to the OPEC Secretariat, crude oil production increased by a total of 1.88 million b/d, with most of the increase coming from Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
