It is another important cross-river corridor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area after the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-China Corridor. It is also the first double-decker composite highway corridor at the mouth of the Pearl River. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2029.
