Hong Kong stock opening | Hang Seng Index opens 0.6% lower, semiconductor storage sector strengthens, Tencent Holdings (00700) falls more than 3%

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 13, the Hang Seng Index opened 0.6% lower to 25,288.07 points; the Hang Seng Technology Index fell 0.29% to 4762.46 points; and the State-owned Enterprises Index fell 0.54% to 8,400.88 points.

The semiconductor, storage and optical communications sector strengthened, with Cambridge Technology (06166) and Lanqi Technology (06809) up more than 4%, Zhongji Xuchuang (03308) up nearly 4%, Changfei Optical Cable (06869) and GigaYi Innovation (03986) up more than 3%, Huahong Semiconductor (01347) nearly 2%, and SMIC (00981) up more than 1%; Lenovo Group (00992) rose more than 3%. Overnight, the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index closed up 2.49%, while SK Hynix rose more than 9%.

Most Technet stocks fell, with Tencent Holdings (00700) falling more than 3%, JD Group-SW (09618), Meituan-W (03690), and Alibaba-W (09988) falling more than 1%, and Xiaomi Group-W (01810) falling nearly 1%. Tencent Holdings' net profit for the second quarter fell short of market expectations, and capital expenditure reached a record high.

Gold stocks strengthened. Lingbao Gold (03330) rose nearly 2%, while Chifeng Gold (06693) and Shandong Gold (01787) rose more than 1%.

Hong Kong stocks opened lower today, dragged down by a lower opening after Tencent Holdings' results and the China Securities Golden Dragon Index falling 2.38% overnight.
