Removing barriers to $110 billion mergers and acquisitions? Paramount Sky Dance (PSKY.US) plans to sell CNN and even consider evacuating California

The Zhitong Finance App learned that Paramount Tianmu (PSKY.US) Chief Legal Officer Mikan Dellahim said that the sale of CNN (CNN) has been “put on the agenda” and that the company is currently seeking to complete the $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Exploration (WBD.US).

Derrahim said that if a long-standing antitrust lawsuit can be eliminated, a potential sale transaction would be to be expected. The lawsuit was led by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and 11 other states, who argued that the new “media giant” could raise prices and reduce competition in the film and cable TV sector.

Paramount Sky Dance (PSKY) is trying to make its transactions look less monopoly by pushing its entire news network to the auction floor. Notably, even before this huge merger occurred, Sky Dance had already merged with Paramount, integrating many assets from production studios to CBS News (CBS News).

Through the merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, it will also include assets such as HBO, DC Pictures, and TNT, making it a Big Mac for news and content. Following approval from US federal regulators, the UK, the European Union, China, and others, the lawsuit has become the last hurdle facing the deal.

Del Rahim was also the first to publicly state that Paramount Tianmu may withdraw from a California company executive. Earlier this week, there were reports earlier this week that attributed this statement to CEO David Ellison.

Del Rahim declared, “At a certain point, you have an obligation and a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders, and these are the factors you need to consider.” “If I were the governor, I wouldn't want to see Hollywood leave the state.” I wouldn't want to see a big company like Paramount move out to another state. Leaving California can also save an additional $500 million in taxes each year, plus billions of dollars from selling Paramount or Warner studios. Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newson is apparently concerned about the state's antitrust lawsuit and is encouraging Bonta's office to reach a settlement out of court.
