Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said on Saturday that Israel's escalating actions in southern Lebanon since dawn, including intensive air strikes and shelling, were “extremely serious” and undermined efforts to stabilize the situation. “If there are any military facilities in Lebanon, the sole responsibility for handling these facilities lies with Lebanon,” Salam said. He pointed out that the seven people killed in the air strike on Ansar “were not military facilities, nor were the children and women killed among them military targets” and that the existence of military facilities “did not give Israel the right to violate Lebanese territory or endanger the rights of civilians.” The Israel Defense Forces said earlier that in response to Hezbollah's actions against the Israeli army in the security zone, they attacked Hezbollah's infrastructure in Nabatiya and Ansar in southern Lebanon last night.
