02:25 AM EDT, 08/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) said Monday it is terminating a phase 3 trial evaluating volrustomig in combination with chemotherapy to treat metastatic non-small cell lung cancer. The drugmaker's decision follows a planned review of trial data by the Independent Data Monitoring Committee, which concluded that the treatment was unlikely to meet either of its dual primary endpoints of progression-free survival or overall survival in patients with PD-L1 negative tumors compared with the comparator arm. AstraZeneca will continue other trials of volrustomig in cervical cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and mesothelioma.
