Hurricane “Lana” has weakened to a tropical storm as it approaches Hawaii in the US. However, as of 3:30 p.m. local time on August 16, strong winds, torrential rain, and storm surges brought by “Lana” were still causing power outages for more than 180,000 users across Hawaii. Hawaii Governor Josh Greene said the state government has received reports of damage to at least 100 homes. A state government official said the flash floods caused by torrential rain were “unprecedented” and hit parts of Hawaii hard. The US National Hurricane Center warns the region is facing severe conditions that are “life-threatening.” Allegedly, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau are all under tropical storm warning, and there is a possibility of “devastating flooding.”
