Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bagae said that the existing laws already cover Iran's “sovereign rights” in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman. Bagae said that Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to cooperate with the parliament to push forward relevant legislation relating to Iran's rights in the region. He said, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs always takes existing laws and actual circumstances into consideration. The position of Parliament is clear and unequivocal in the Constitution, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that it is obligated to cooperate with Parliament as necessary in all legislative processes.” He said that Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously submitted professional opinions on the relevant bill. If members of parliament make a request, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide comments again.
