Japan's Tokyo Electric Power Company said on the 17th that the 22nd round of nuclear polluted water discharge from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has ended, and a total of nearly 8,000 tons of nuclear contaminated water have been discharged. According to a press release from TEPCO, this round of emissions began on July 30 and ended on the afternoon of August 17 local time. A total of 7,888 tons of nuclear-contaminated water were discharged, containing a total of about 1.3 trillion becquerels containing radioactive tritium. This is Japan's fourth round of nuclear polluted water discharge in the 2026 fiscal year. In August 2023, Japan ignored strong questions and objections from the international community and unilaterally forcibly initiated the discharge of nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant into the sea. Up to now, a total of 22 rounds of nuclear contaminated water have been discharged, with a cumulative discharge volume of about 173,000 tons.
