OpenAI announced that it has partnered with SB Energy, NVIDIA, and the US Department of Energy to obtain approximately 8 gigawatts of IT equipment at the Ports-Pike Technology Park in Pike County, Ohio. The project is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 long-term operating jobs over six years from the construction period to 2032. SB Energy will build, own, and operate the data center under a 20-year lease agreement with OpenAI, and gradually deliver capacity. OpenAI will be the customer, leveraging the site's capacity, which will exclusively host the NVIDIA AI computing infrastructure.
