J.P. Morgan's market intelligence team, led by Andrew Taylor, said that in the next few weeks, a large number of stock buyers may seek to re-increase total exposure and re-leverage. The team wrote in the research report that potential buyers include companies planning to repurchase shares, individual investors, and quantitative trading institutions. The team maintains a “tactical bullish” view. They said, “The market continues to rise amidst fears.” This week's market focus is on the minutes of Wednesday's Federal Reserve meeting. The market will explore Chairman Kevin Walsh's policy ideas from them; next week's focus will be on Nvidia's earnings report and the Jackson Hole Global Central Bank Annual Meeting. They wrote that the latter two events may “change the market narrative.” Last week's market concerns included growth data such as inflation and retail sales, as well as US bond auctions and speeches by Federal Reserve officials. At the end of last month, J.P. Morgan said its internal indicator “sent a buy signal,” which historically usually indicates an imminent rise in the S&P 500 index. Since then, the benchmark index has cumulatively increased by about 5%.
