AI chip leader Nvidia revealed its latest move on the strategic layout of AI infrastructure. On August 17, Nvidia CEO Hwang In-hoon published a signed article entitled “Ensuring the Safety of Intelligent Infrastructure”, stating that Nvidia has reached a cooperation with energy developer SB Energy to lock down land, electricity and plant resources at the Ports-Pike Technology Park in Portsmouth, Ohio, USA. The site will be dedicated to hosting Nvidia's computing power systems, and OpenAI will build and operate the AI factory as a tenant. In the article, Hwang In-hoon pointed out that AI factories are decisive infrastructure in the AI era. Currently, the competitive focus of infrastructure has extended from advanced chips and packaging to land, electricity, and factories. The demand for training and inference computing power in AI laboratories is astonishing. “More computing power means higher intelligence, more products, more users, and higher revenue,” but its development is being seriously constrained by insufficient supply of computing power.
