On August 17, the official website of the Wangmo County Government of Guizhou published the “Hongshui River May 4 Water Collision Investigation Report”. According to the investigation report, at about 19:35 on May 4, 2026, a collision between a Luya boat and a dinghy occurred in the Hongshui River in the Longtan Reservoir area, causing 3 people on the dinghy to fall into the water and die. It was determined that this incident was a water incident where two natural persons were driving a “three no” vessel used for leisure fishing activities. During the spontaneous departure, the boats collided due to illegal operation between the two parties, resulting in 3 drowning deaths and damage to the boat. None of the 3 people who fell into the water on the dinghy after the collision were wearing life jackets. After falling into the water, they directly drowned and died due to lack of effective buoyancy support. Luya boat driver Chen bears the main responsibility for this incident and suggests that his suspected criminal leads be handed over to the public security authorities to open a case for investigation and be held responsible according to law.
