Some of the world's leading investors are flocking to short-term bonds, and they are hedging against a repetition of the 2022 situation. Since the Middle East conflict began, BlackRock's London-based James Turner has switched to shorter-term bonds and inflation-linked bonds; Aviva Investors, Aegon Asset Management, and Allspring Global Investments prefer short-term corporate credit, including asset-backed securities and private debt. Allspring Global Investments portfolio manager Lauren van Biljon said that compared to long-term government bonds, choosing short-term bonds, including credit bonds, is probably the “most agreed transaction” in the current market, “and the results are also very good.”
