The Zhitong Finance App learned that on August 20, the three major A-share indices collectively opened higher. The market declined slightly and narrowed after rushing higher in early trading, showing a pattern of “indices collectively closing up, individual stocks generally rising, and pharmaceutical gold leading the way”. By the midday close, the Shanghai Index had risen 0.28% to 3905.23 points, the Shenzhen Index had risen 0.97% to 14024.41 points, and the GEM index had risen 1.03% to 3509.44 points.

More than 4,300 stocks rose in the entire market, about 1,000 stocks fell, and more than 80 stocks rose or stopped. The Shanghai and Shenzhen markets traded about 1.37 trillion yuan in half a day, down about 246.9 billion yuan from the previous trading day.
