Four Democratic senators said that effective monetary policy relies on transparency and accountability mechanisms. “It is necessary for the Federal Reserve to be transparent about these exchanges to show that it is independent of the White House, and this is a principle you have indicated that you intend to adhere to,” the letter, signed by Senators Chris Van Hollen, Jack Reed, Angela Alsobrooks, and Elizabeth Warren reads.
