On August 20, local time, the White House said that US President Trump has signed a memorandum of understanding, proposing that by 2030, the US space transport range and related facilities should have the capacity to support more than 1,000 launches and re-entry missions every year. According to the memorandum, the United States will expand and improve space launch and re-entry infrastructure, require relevant departments to promote the opening of federal launch sites to commercial users, encourage commercial investment, public-private cooperation, and joint infrastructure development, and speed up facility licensing and environmental reviews. NASA is also being asked to develop a commercial lunar logistics architecture, explore commercial robot landings on Mars, and related architectures for commercial manned trips to and from Mars.
