As one of the important events of the 3rd APEC Senior Officials Meeting in the field of energy, the CCUS/CCS Seminar on Promoting Clean and Efficient Development and Utilization of Fossil Energy was recently held in Dalian, Liaoning Province. The conference was guided by the APEC Secretariat, the National Energy Administration, and hosted by the China Petroleum Planning Institute to promote experience sharing, policy dialogue and practical cooperation in the field of CCUS/CCS within the APEC region. Xiong Minfeng, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the National Energy Administration, said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to CCUS/CCS technology development and the layout of the entire industry chain, and has always been a firm driver and active practitioner of CCUS/CCS technology development. He proposed that Asia-Pacific economies join hands to establish three pillars of cooperation: one is to jointly establish a policy standard dialogue mechanism to share incentives and regulatory experiences; the second is to jointly develop low-cost and efficient technologies to lower the application threshold for the entire chain; and the third is to jointly promote cross-industry demonstration projects to open up collaborative storage and utilization paths in the fields of oil and gas, electricity, industry, etc.
