Ministry of Commerce: From January to July 2026, the country absorbed 438.33 billion yuan of foreign capital

The Zhitong Finance App learned that data released by the Ministry of Commerce shows that from January to July 2026, 37,711 new foreign-invested enterprises were set up nationwide, an increase of 4.4% over the previous year; the actual amount of foreign capital used was 438.33 billion yuan, a decrease of 6.2% over the previous year.

From an industry perspective, the manufacturing industry actually uses foreign capital of 109.43 billion yuan, and the service industry actually uses foreign capital of 319.95 billion yuan. The high-tech industry actually used foreign capital of 182.31 billion yuan, an increase of 32.7% over the previous year, accounting for 41.6% of the country's actual use of foreign capital, an increase of 12.2 percentage points over the same period last year. Among them, the actual use of foreign capital in R&D and design services, technological achievement transformation services, and the electronics and communication equipment manufacturing industry increased by 72.1%, 62.2%, and 39.9%, respectively.

Looking at sources, actual investment in China from Saudi Arabia, France, and South Korea increased by 343.7%, 36.1%, and 15.8%, respectively (including data on investment through free ports).
