According to Ukrainian media reports, Ukrainian Energy Minister Shmegal said on the 21st that the natural gas, coal and other energy reserves required by Ukraine for wintering this year are close to or have exceeded the planned targets. When questioned on the same day about the protection of energy facilities and energy preparations for wintering in Ukraine, Shmeghal said that currently the underground gas storage depot in Ukraine has reached 14.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is close to completing the previously set target of storing 14.6 billion cubic meters of wintering natural gas; coal reserves have already been exceeded. In addition, fuel reserves for wintering are also being established to focus on providing power to backup generators and critical infrastructure in places such as frontlines. Shmegal said that it is expected that by the end of this year, Ukraine's installed power generation capacity will reach 19.6 gigawatts, exceeding the minimum power generation capacity requirement for wintering in Ukraine. Shmegal also said that Ukraine has allocated 35 billion hryvnias this year to strengthen the protection of local energy facilities.
